Simon Licensing

Simon is equipped with a security system that requires that the licensee relicense every year. It would be nice not to have to add security such as this, but a lot of people think that software should be free and thus will not pay if they are allowed the choice. Simon was, and still is, a monumental programming structure that has thousands of hours involved in its development and maintenance. Thus, we do require a license for use of Simon that must be paid annually.

If you were to download the 30-day trial, about 10 days before the trial is complete, a form will appear (something like the one shown below) asking whether you want to license Simon. The form shown below is slightly different from the one at the end of the trial. This is the form that will appear when relicensing annually.

I have added bullets to this form in pink so I can explain each area individually.

(A) This is an embedded image that you should click on when you have the licensing code sent from us. When you click on this Simon image, the Relicensing Code box at (E) and the 'continue' button at (F) are enabled so that you can enter the code in the box at (E) and then click on the button at (F).
(B) This area is a statement that will help you get through this process without problem. Plese read this statement before calling us for help on how to get licensed. Licensing is pretty straight forward and should be easy enough to accomplish without our assistance.
(C) If you want to delay relicensing for a while, you can click on this button to continue using Simon until you have time to relicense later. But, however, do not wait until you time has expired. We do try to get licensing done on a daily basis, but cannot guarantee that we will be able to do this instantly. And, putting pressure on us to jump to it when you have neglected to do this in a timely manner is not always going to be effective (we are very busy most of the time and typically cannot drop everything to do this). If you allow Simon to expire, you will not be able to click on this button to continue use of Simon. Simon will, in this case, just close.
(D) Click on this button to move to the form shown below. This is where you set your addressing, communication and payment data, before sending us your information for licensing.

When you click on the 'Pay Relicensing Fee' the form shown above will appear. This form is where you check your information to make sure it is correct, enter your credit card information, or payment information, and then send the information to us so we can get you licensed.

I have added pink bullet so that I can run through this form for you specifically.

(A) This is what they call in the computer world a tabbed control. It is like a file with multiple areas (pages) that you can look at and make changes to data. This tabbed control has two pages. The first is the one shown where you can review and edit your addressing information. The second is one where you can review and edit your phone, fax and email information. Do make sure that the information here is correct. We review this ourselves to keep your data here accurate.
(B) This is where you tell us which computer you are licensing. You will have one main computer at your business and one or several listed as additiona computers. Please be sure that you have this set correctly.
(C) The 'Payment Type' box can be used for two purposes. The first is simply to let us know how your payment will be made, i.e., credit card, check or money order. There is a special needs choice here for 'Already Paid" that should be used if you have already paid your licensing fees and had to reinstall Simon on a different computer. If you choose this item, we will check our records, check your anniversary date and send you a code that will reset your computer with the correct anniversary date.
(D) If you are paying your licensing fee by credit card, you should add this information here.
(E) The information here shows the date when Simon was first licensed, the date when the licensing fees are next due, the number of days until your next licensing fee is due, and the serial number of your Simon program for this licensing period. (F) Just another information statement that will help you get through the licensing process.
(G) If you cannot print the licensing form because you do not have a printer hooked up to your Simon computer, you can click on this button to open a form that will help you create a file that you can attach to an email to us that will get you licensed.
(H) You can click on this button to print a form that can be faxed or mailed to us to get licensed. If you are planning to mail us a check, be sure to include this printable form and be sure to send it to us early enough to get here in plenty of time.
(J) You can click on this button to move back to the previous screen where you can enter the licensing code we send you into the Licensing Code box.

The below image is of the form that you can print and then fax to us to get licensed.

The below image is of the form that will appear where that will help you create a file that you can send to us as an email attachment to get licensed. I have added blue buttons so I can identify specific areas on this form.

(A) This title in green is the name of the file that will be created. You should make note of the name of this file so you can find it for emailing to us as an attachment.
(B) This shows where the file will be located on your hard drive, floppy drive or whereever you decide to place it.
(C) You can change the location of this file by clicking on this button to bring up a dialog box where you can navigate to the folder where you want the file to be placed.
(D) Once you have written down the file name and made note of where it will be placed, click on this button to create the file.

As a final note, please do not send us information regarding licensing as a scribbled note or an email that you think might suffice as legitimate licensing. There are only two ways to get licensed--by printing the form, or through the email attachment mentioned above--no other licensing method is acceptable.

Hope this helps!
